It will be published in several parts over the next few weeks, so keep an eye out for upcoming posts.<\/p>\n<h1><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Types of testing<\/span><\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Last week, we showed an example of a simple A\/B Test.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>What is an A\/B Test = <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A method of sending some percentage of website visitors (say, 50%) to the control version of the site, while the other percentage of visitors see comparing two different versions of something to see which one users prefer.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The idea of \u200b\u200bthe split test or the AB test, is to apply all the changes at once (either on a new page or on the same page) and face both pages to see which one gets more interactions with the search button.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Many times, as experienced marketers, we simply assume we know what a website visitor wants to see. These A\/B tests help us prove a hypothesis with data.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-22653 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.makingscience.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/1\/2022\/04\/ab-test-300x146.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"592\" height=\"288\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In some cases, the testing strategy may call for a Multivariate Test.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>What is a Multivariate Test = <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Multivariate or multi-variable testing refers to testing multiple variables or elements at the same time, usually 3 or more.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Example of a multivariate test:<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For each element, we define the variants to be pitted against the current content (control).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-22658 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.makingscience.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/1\/2022\/04\/multivariate-300x144.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"571\" height=\"274\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A testing tool (for example, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dynamicyield.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dynamic Yield<\/a>) will create all possible combinations of each element with their variants:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-22664 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.makingscience.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/1\/2022\/04\/shakeup-300x234.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"512\" height=\"399\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And distribute the users among them to find the winning combination:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-22669 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.makingscience.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/1\/2022\/04\/winning-combo-300x268.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"491\" \/><\/p>\n<h1>How to get started with Conversion Rate Optimization<\/h1>\n<p>Start by ensuring that you understand the basics of conversion rate optimization. Be sure that you have a conversion rate optimization tool and a strategy in place. And, always be testing!
